We landed, and stayed out at Narita for a night, and when to a Plane Museum that is located at one of the edges of the airport. We have lunch in the old control tower and watched planes land only 100 meters away. And the kids had a nice meal out of an airplane shaped plate.

Anita likes flying up in the sky with the dragons

Nothing makes Lucas more happy than droping bombs on Nazi’s

IMG_2123

Im happy now, modelling this XS-1, but soon ill stand up and hit my head.

The Captain and assistants are in the front end of a real 747 (section 41), messing around with all the buttons…Can’t find the “Engage” button

IMG_2147

There’s a problem in the cockpit…..

The first night in Japan we stayed at the Narita Tobu hotel, about $58AUD for a total of 2 connected rooms, with a total of 4 double beds. (we ended up using only 2). We also caught our first bus, where i had to mime out “plane museum”

Besides of the airport, during our whole trip, we met a total of about 3 people that can speak english. Infact we met more people that speak chinese, then my wife translates to me, so that’s “lost in translation” and “chinese whispers”

Tokyo Sea Life Park

This place was better than expected, only a few minutes from the train station, the kids started to get excited as the escalator took us down under the water, and it became dark, then we saw all the fish…

It cost about 700 yen for and adult ticket, like most other things in japan, kids under 5 are free (atleast that was out logic, and no one stopped us)

and hammer head sharks too

IMG_2211

A turtle, and lots of star fish, as well and dozens of smaller tanks with fish from around the world in them.

IMG_2189

Penguins were cute, but outside in the freezing cold, so we rushed thru. Lucas loved watching then doing poo’s in the water, infact every picture we took of him and the penguins including one doing a poo

Random Pictures

IMG_2235

This is in a toy’r’us, lots of different toys, including this happy looking guy, he is even on the back of Anita’s nappies

IMG_2241

This is up the TMG tower, i think its up on the 45th floor, not sure, but its high, bored the kids lots. This picture is looking south, the TMG tower on the south edge of the big city part, so nothing is block the view in this direction, you can just make out mt Fuji covered in snow. Generally its very very clear in the mornings, and by 11am its a little hazy like it is now. This place is free, its in Shinjuku. All these building look so small, but some are still 15 story building..

IMG_2265

This handsome guy kept on posing for me, look at those eyes

IMG_2272

IMG_2283

This is back at our room, in the evening, those are the mountains a long way away, looking west, with the clouds/mist below them

IMG_2351

And this was the next morning, it snowed during the night, made things crystal clear, and covered those mountains in snow.

IMG_2352

It covered everything thing else in snow too, added a touch of while to the roof tops, but was a wonderful blue skied day.

Train Museum

This place was great, Lucas loved all the trains, toy trains, steam trains, and carriages. there was lots of train toys too, and learning about stuff also. The train trip there was also interesting, as it about an hour from the city, so you can start to see stand alone houses everywhere (next to 20 story blocks of units)

IMG_2301

the 4 of us cuddled up a carriage from around 1930.

Odaiba

This place is a mand made island, built like 200 years ago or something, but not used till the last 20 or 30 years. There are lots of shopping things, and big places here, we went back 2 days in a row.

IMG_2365

From Shimbashi station, we changed trains to a automated/elevated train, there was not driver, so we took the front seat. This was a very impressing trip, weaving through sky scrapers, then along the water, then up and over the rainbow bridge.

IMG_2374 IMG_2362

Not the warmest train ive ever been on.

IMG_2390

We found a Toyota “mega web” show room,it had a few pretty cool cars in it, but i just stayed playing games

2012-01-24 12.44.44

this place was on the 2nd floor of a 3 story place, hence its not the real sky, felt really odd and dizzy inside, but mainly from the insane price tags on things

IMG_2405

then we walked around the 2 big shopping complexe and daiba, much better priced, and much better to look at too.

grabbed 2x20cm nice pizza’s and a pepsi for 650yen, just keep your eyes for the deals, there are some VERY nice looking places to eat here, with wonderful views up towards the rainbow bridge, and beyond to Tokyo

IMG_2411

Some western embarrassment that kept on following around, not sure why my wife kept on taking pictures of him, i better have words with her.

The next day we went back to the same place, but this time sitting at the back of the train. Oddly enough its the sae as the first return trip, but in reverse order.

IMG_2428

Rainbow bridge, from the train line, then the train line goes in a big upwards loop that takes it onto the bridge.

IMG_2420

i like this picture for some reason, just everyone got there washing out, it will only see the sun for 2-3 hours, there is still snow and ice on the ground for 3-4 days prior, and its 3-5 degree’s. Good luck drying.

Miraikan science museum

This is still is Daiba, Its the museum of “Emerging Technologies”, like the 12 year old Asimo

IMG_2446

My old human son in the middle, and my new robot son on the left, Asimo has an off switch. and can dance better too.

IMG_2457

Lots of little screens, each with moving clouds etc, not sure if its real time or not.

Its odd walking around this place, its the first place we have walked around were the street is not 3 meters wide and has 20 stories building on either side.

IMG_2464

It did however have a giant robot thing.

IMG_2475

I told my kids that the giant robot became active at night time, and patrolled the area, just as the sun was setting. we had to run the next 800 meters to the train station….
